Gourdpatch Quilt

112 Gourd artists have come together to create the WORLD'S FIRST GOURD PATCH QUILT. Each of the artists submitted their speciality of artwork onto a flat 4"x4" gourd tile. Lynette Dawson and daughter Margaret Schroeder stretched it together. Framework was constructed and the project has been completed. The Quilt made its debut on April 3-4, 2004 at the Indiana Gourd Show. It was also seen in person at the Cherokee Gourd Artist Gathering on May 21-23, 2004.

Marianne Barnes, South Carolina,
Marianne's gourd tile is a weaved pouch, using dyed round reed, yarn, and cedar bark. Her embellishments on the rim are made from a pod, stem, and philodendron sheath. It took Marianne 6 hours to construct her gourd tile.
